DJG Partners with American Baby for Home Safety Makeover

This holiday season the Creedon family received their presents just a little early. Amelia and Kevin Creedon from Sound Beach,NY were selected from over 2000 applicants to win the Home Safety Makeover, which made their home more secure for their now 8 month old son, Bernard.

Since learning to crawl not too long ago, the active tot has discovered just how fascinating his brave new ‘grown-up’ world can be. Like most babies his age, Bernard is curious about his surroundings and eager to explore – which has his parents increasingly concerned about his safety. And certainly, they should be.

Unintentional injuries remain the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Every year, nearly two million children four years and under visit the emergency room as a result of an unintentional injury occurring in the home. For the Creedons, these startling statistics serve to reinforce the importance of childproofing – sooner rather than later.

As the winners, the Creedon family received a complete home safety evaluation and makeover by a team of child safety experts from Wilton, CT based Peek-a-Boo Babyproofing Inc. Over $2,000 in Safety 1st products will be installed in the Creedon’s home – including gates, appliance locks, cabinet and drawer latches and furniture corner bumpers. The Creedons will also receive age appropriate car seats for both of the family’s vehicles.

“We’ll do whatever is necessary to keep Bernard safe,” said Amelia Creedon. “We just didn’t know exactly where to start. That’s why we entered the home safety makeover contest – to learn how to create a safer living space for him. We’re thrilled about winning.”
