Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford is a 264-bed hospital devoted to the care of children and expectant mothers. We are an academic medical center affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine. Packard Children's offers patients locally, regionally and nationally the full range of health care programs and services from preventive and routine care to the diagnosis and treatment of serious illness and injury.
The Hospital is nationally recognized for treating the most complex cases of any full-service children’s hospital in the United States. In 2005, our physicians treated patients from 40 states and 11 countries. At the same time, Packard is the community hospital for our local area and served over 70 percent of obstetric and over 80 percent of pediatric patients from our local communities requiring hospitalization.
Packard Children’s Family-Centered Care program takes a team approach to every child and expectant mother’s care. Patients and families receive comprehensive treatment, while we respect their unique needs, preferences and sensitivities. Our team assists families in every way possible while they are at the hospital, ensuring they have access to the information they need, and are able to make informed decisions with the help and support of their health care team.
Community Outreach
Packard Children’s works to improve the health of our community’s children and expectant mothers through a variety of community programs, advocacy programs and partnerships:
- Packard Children’s is the host agency for Safe Kids San Mateo/Santa Clara County. We also provide the Safely Home Child Passenger Fitting Station where certified technicians ensure child car seat safety, free of charge to anyone in the community.
- Our advocacy program works at local, state and national levels to improve the lives of children through public policies, programs and regulations
- We work with local groups and agencies to understand the needs of our community and to ensure children and expectant mothers who can benefit from our programs are not hindered by geographical or financial barriers.
