Hospitals

From newborns to young adults, patients at University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital receive a level of care that is truly unique in the region. Located within UW Hospital and Clinics, UW Children's Hospital is a complete, 62-bed children's medical and surgical center that admits more than 2,700 patients each year. This "hospital within a hospital" arrangement offers patients and families the friendliness of a small pediatric hospital combined with the cutting-edge treatment offered by a nationally recognized medical facility.
Our world-class team of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals provide everything from preventive health care to highly specialized programs. These include a pediatric intensive care unit, an internationally recognized transplant surgery program, a children's cancer center, a pediatric asthma center and many others. A warm, family-centered environment is enhanced through special activities such as a Child Life program, a pet therapy program, a hospital school run by the Madison Metropolitan School District, and family lodging at the nearby Ronald McDonald House.
Building on a rich history, UW Children's Hospital is entering a new era of world-class care for kids with the construction of a $78 million American Family Children's Hospital that is scheduled to open in summer 2007.
